WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT
OUR NEXT OLDIES DANCE WILL BE OUR
"HOLIDAY DINNER DANCE"
ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER 7, 2024
Do you remember when music was made with harmony from the voices of the singers and when Doo Wop and Rock n’ Roll filled the airways? Well, that music you loved to listen and dance to is what we play at our oldies dances.
For over ten years, our Oldies-But-Goodies Dances have taken place at the American Legion Post 24 on Washington Street in Canton, MA. They’re held several times a year for all of you who enjoy dancing to the music of the 50's and 60's. We’ve held Valentine’s Day Dances, Spring Dances, Autumn Dances and Holiday Dances. We have also held dances in Middleboro, Middleton, and in Randolph.
Before the dance, we offer a simple supper buffet between 7-8pm only at which time you’ll hear music. Some times it's a local singers who come and perform to show their support of the event; or some times it's old-style ballads playing overhead. Some of our dance friends, who have finished their meal, might get up and dance during this time while we wait for the official dance to start.
At 8PM, it’s on to the dance floor for those who’re waiting to dance. Or, if you prefer to just sit back and listen to the music, chances are you’ll hear some of your favorite songs of yesteryear by The Drifters, The Crests, The Platters, Bobby Darin, Carl Perkins, Frankie Lymon & the Teenagers, Bill Haley & The Comets, Gary U.S. Bonds, Elvis, Big Joe Turner, Bobby Lewis, The Contours, The Capris, Bobby Rydell, Neil Sedaka, The Checkers, The Cleftones, Ritchie Valens, The Five Satins, Little Joe Cook, Danny & The Juniors, Dion, The Adelphis, The Elgins, The Spaniels, The Bobbettes, The Pentagons, The Clovers and so many others. Although we try hard to keep the music within the 50's-60's era, later in the evening you might also hear a few songs from the early 70's.
Music will be played by a DJ, there will be a cash bar for your libation and towards the end of the dance we will have a raffle drawing.
If you grew up in this era and are looking for a bit of nostalgia or just have a love for Rock n’ Roll and/or Doo Wop music, please join us. Tickets are sold in advance because of hall capacity. You can purchase an individual ticket or an entire table which holds up to 8 that would be reserved for you and your guests. (A reserved table is paid for in one check by one person.) Buying a RESERVED table means that for the duration of the dance, the table is yours whether you have 4 friends, 5 friends, 7 or 8 friends with you, we cannot sit anyone at ‘your’ table. If you buy single tickets, you'll be seated at a table with other Oldies music lovers whom you may not know but you're sure to have a good time with them because we're all there for THE MUSIC and to have fun.
Please e-mail, text or call Burne, Kim or Tony for ticket information or questions about our next dance. Or, just print out the ticket coupon (from the tab at the top "Order Tickets") and mail it directly to us with your check or money order. The mailing address is on the coupon. Please allow enough time for the tickets to be mailed to you in time for the dance. Tickets are not sold at the door.
